The Minstrel, Cultural Season Mascot

Character illustration created for the cultural season of Bully-les-Mines, a city in the mining basin of northern France (Hauts-de-France).

The concept: a modern minstrel carrying the entire cultural and historical identity of the city on his back. Each element was carefully designed to reference local heritage:

> The miner's face and helmet with a slag heap sticker — tribute to the mining past
> The miner's lamp, taken from the city's coat of arms
> The accordion — Polish community heritage of the basin
> The fishing rod — a nod to the local fishing culture
> The RC Lens scarf — Soccer as popular culture
> The canary — the miners' companion bird underground
> Quill, book, theatre masks, guitar — every art form represented
> Two school mascots following the minstrel
